Don't let it be forgot
That once there was a spot,
For one brief, shining moment
That was known as Camelot...
...That is what King Arthur, in the American Musical "Camelot", says to a young boy- whom he expect to pass on the story of 'Camelot' to future generations...
...That is what John F Kennedy, Late President of America said as his favourite lyrics...The reason why I remember these lines now is an expected but shocking announcement by anotherpowerful ruler- Sourav Ganguly, once the undisputed leader of Indian Cricket.
He is the one who perhaps best resembles to both, the legendery King Arthur and JFK.
The decision was quite unexpected, although it was not a shock. Very calmly and coolly, Ganguly announced that at the end of the series with Australia, he is to bid adieu to the international cricket. He expressed his disappointment for not being selected in the Irani Trophy, said a lot without words and left the press room.
Now, Newspapers are going to fill in columns of articles dedicated to Dada's achievements. We've already produced a special bulletin on Dada. So, there's not much to repeat. Only a slightly sad feeling remains to be expressed- I'm going to miss his strokes- both on the Ground and off of it...
